Windjammer
Watching Cruises
Every Monday morning our 10:00 a.m. to noon trip is specifically for
Windjammer Watching. There are seven windjammers that call Rockland
home and Monday is a typical departure day for their multi-night
adventures. Each Monday this summer there is at least one windjammer
departing and often several all at the same time. We will cruise close
to these traditional tall ships for fantastic photo opportunities. You
will be able to watch as the guests and crew set sail and you may even
be close enough to hear them sing their work chanteys. Laminated
identification
sheets will be available on board as well as a copy of
Windjammer Watching
by Virginia
Thorndike so you can identify which ships are on the horizon. Your
captain will share information about the history of each windjammer you
see. We will have a list of departing schooners so you'll know which
boats to expect and we'll have copies of
Windjammer Watching
available for
purchase.

All
of our cruises are Sightseeing Cruises but if there is no special
theme for the cruise you've chosen you can expect the captain to choose
an exciting route depending on existing conditions. On an hour-long
cruise you can expect to see the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse and
Owls Head Lighthouse as well as Monroe Island, and a portion of the
Mussel Ridge Channel. It's likely that you'll see ferries, seals,
seabirds, lobster boats, and maybe even a porpoise. You'll find the
one-and-a-half hour cruise is similar but affords you a better
opportunity
to see just a little bit more of all Penobscot Bay has to offer. On a
two-hour cruise you may head north for a view of Indian Island
Lighthouse at the entrance of Rockport Harbor and Curtis Island
Lighthouse
at

the
entrance of Camden Harbor. You'll have great views of the rocky
coastline, magnificent shorefront homes, islands, and the luxurious
yachts that often visit Camden, in addition to all the things you can
expect to see on our shorter cruises.
Lighthouse
Cruises
The Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse is an
area icon and our one-hour
cruises on Saturday and Sunday are designated as Lighthouse Cruises.
The lighthouse is situated at the mouth of Rockland Harbor at the end
of a mile-long breakwater. This cruise is perfect for guests with
limited time or for those that would prefer not to walk two miles.
Friends of the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse volunteers are on hand
each weekend (weather permitting) to welcome you to the lighthouse
where you can wander the renovated interior and even go up into the
light tower that is still guiding mariners safely into Rockland Harbor.
We'll depart from our downtown dock and cruise across the harbor to the
dock situated near the lighthouse. You'll have plenty of time to take
photos, learn about the history of the lighthouse, and reboard before
your return to the mainland. We will have a copy of The Lighthouse at
Rockland Breakwater by Ted Panayotoff and Courtney
Thompson
on board, and you can purchase your own copy at the lighthouse
giftshop.
Proceeds from the sale of these books benefit the restoration of the
lighthouse. 1% of each ticket sale for our
Lighthouse Cruises is donated to the
Friends of the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse to support their ongoing
restoration
efforts.
Lobster-Dinner
Cruises
What better way to eat a lobster dinner than on a boat surrounded by
the quiet and beauty of a Maine island? Our lobster-dinner cruises are
offered on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights only and are limited to
guests 21 and older. Your lobster dinner includes one or two lobsters
steamed in salt water pulled directly from the bay as well as melted
butter, corn-on-the-cob, chips, a non-alcoholic beverage of your
choice, and watermelon for dessert. Of course, no lobster dinner is
complete without a plastic bib, nutcrackers, meat picks, hand wipes,
and lots and lots of napkins. Eating a lobster dinner can be
messy
business so we recommend keeping that in mind when choosing your
attire!
Enjoy a cruise across West Penobscot Bay while the captain pointd out
special sites or wildlife along the way. Enter Hurricane Sound
through Leadbetter's Narrows or Lawry's Narrows and moor at the head of
the Sound so the crew can prepare your delicious dinner. You'll be
indulging in Maine's famous lobster, enjoying every butter-soaked
morsel, and may not even notice that you're on your way back across the
Bay until you recognize that unmistakable golden glow of another
spectacular sunset. It's the perfect time to share a romantic moment
with your spouse or date as the captain returns you safely to Rockland.
Dockside Cocktails

|
Perhaps
you don't have time to go on a cruise but simply want to stop
by to enjoy a cocktail on the water and watch the goings-on of the
harbor. Each afternoon you are welcome aboard for Dockside Cocktails.
>From 5:00 to 6:15 Monday through Thursday and from 3:30 to 4:45 Friday
through Sunday, you'll find us at the Maine Boats, Homes, and Harbors

cruise of the day at 8:00 p.m. Bring your friends
or meet new ones. Sit back and enjoy the feeling of owning your own

consumed on board. |
