You missed it! Join us next year.
Sure
you can see the races from the breakwater but if you want to see them
from the water with the comfort of a bar, lunch, and a head (toilet), join us
for a few hours of fun. Come aboard at 10 am just as the races are
about to begin. We'll motor out to the spectator area and drop anchor
for the first heats. Enjoy a soda or a beer from the bar while some
boats get eliminated and others move on to the final heats. We'll be on
the water for four hours (returing to the dock at 2 pm) and lunch will
be provided (sandwich, chips, fruit, a cookie, and a non-alcoholic
beverage). View the races in the shade of the canopy or from the bow in
full sunshine. Depending on when the race winners are announced, this
trip may also include a close-up view of the Rockland Breakwater
Lighthouse and the Owls Head Lighthouse.

6th Annual Maine Windjammer Parade - Friday, July 17th
Bring
your camera with you for this exciting harbor cruise with close-up
views of over a dozen traditional vessels in the Maine windjammer
fleet. The harbor comes alive with activity and looks like it
may have over a hundred years ago when thousands of sailing ships were
recorded entering Rockland. Learn about each boat as they exchange
tacks and cannon fire in the harbor. The captain will narrate general
information and there will be identification cards and a copy of
"Windjammer Watching" on board for more in-depth information about each
of these magnificent schooners. This special 2-1/2 hour trip, from 1:30 to 4
pm, will also include close-up views of the Rockland Breakwater
Lighthouse and the Owls Head Lighthouse.
USCG Barque Eagle arrive in Rockland, Friday, July 24th
(time to be announced)
A
local group is organizing boats to welcome the USCG Barque Eagle when
they arrive in Rockland and we'll be out on the water to participate.
Bring your camera and join us as this impressive flagship visits our
harbor.
Built in the early 20th Century in the twilight era of sailing, Eagle
has a rich and diverse history. The present day Eagle was originally
named Horst Wessel and was a training ship for the German navy prior to
World War II. In 1946, following WW II, the Horst
Wessel was taken as a war prize by the United States and is the seventh
ship named Eagle in Coast Guard history.
The Eagle is operated and maintained by a permanent crew of 49 Coast
Guard enlisted personnel and six officers. They are augmented each summer by
additional active duty members, as well as Reserve and Coast Guard Auxiliary
crew members. This professional crew guides the cadets through a rigorous
underway and in-port training schedule that is dedicated towards learning the
skills of fundamental leadership, teamwork, navigation, damage control, first
aid, engineering, and deck seamanship.
At a length of 295’ overall and carrying 22,300 sq.ft. of sail, the Eagle
is sure to be the center of attention and you can be part of the festivities!
USCG Barque Eagle departs Rockland, Monday, July 27th
(time to be announced)
Be aboard as local boats escort the USCG Barque Eagle when
they depart Rockland.
Bring your camera and join us as this impressive flagship sets sail and departs our
